Agastache scrophulariifolia P/3-6'

Bee Plant

Shade tolerant, sweetly fragrant, licorice scented flowers and foliage,  Purple Giant Agastache blooms July through September. Bees, swallowtail butterflies and hummingbirds feed on nectar & pollen.

Planting Directions:  Sow seed indoors 6 to 8 weeks before planting in the garden. Barely cover seed with sterile seed starting mix keeping soil temperature of 70° to 75°. Pinch plants back to encourage branching when 4 to 6” tall. Transplant outdoors after last frost in a sunny location or in light shade. Plant in soil enriched with compost or a good general garden fertilizer. Fertilize every spring. Seed may be broadcast outdoors in early fall, just barely cover seed. Plant in good soil and fertilize in spring after last frost when seedlings are at least 2” to 3” tall.

Remarks:  For winter use, gather on a dry day when flowers on plants are fully opened.   Place flower heads in a cool room on frames of cheesecloth for air circulation.  When dry, remove seeds from stems and seal in air tight jars.  Harvest and dry leaves for tea in late summer.
